Soyfed Beef - 300grams collapses the semiotics of the cultural, emasculated “soy boy” and reflects on its connections to the Asian male body. Compared to the variegation in meat, the body of tofu is smooth and plain. Similarly, the emasculated body is inarticulate compared to the ordinary perceptions of articulated bodies especially in body building.
Through a series of image-objects, Siew attempts to characterise queer Asianess through oscillations around performativity and reproduction.
