Pigs Can Fly
2017
Balloons, liquid latex, acrylic paint, fishing line
Dimensions variable

Pigs were killed for their bladders to make balloons in the past; there is a parallel between fragile, commodified balloons and the lives of animals. My work aims to accentuate this parallel by reverting latex balloons back into the visceral and grotesque appearance of pig bladders.
Repetition of gory, visceral imagery will help convey the magnitude at which man devalues the lives of other species and induce disgust in viewers to relay the disgust I personally feel about killing animals.

Exhibited for Visual Arts Graduation Showcase (2018) over at SOTA Gallery, Singapore.
