Safe Place reflects Siew's fears towards STI contraction and homophobia. For gay men, STI risks are big motivations for condom use. But in countries that possess conservative attitudes towards homosexuality, proper knowledge of condom use and limitations are not as easily available. Upon contracting Chlamydia in 2020, Siew reflects on his fears towards STIs and how it's prevalence in LGBTQIA+ Communities is heavily institutionalised.

In a society where intimacy only exist in crevices situated in landscapes of discrimination, Siew is only able to fixate on physical items for a false sense of solace and comfort. Imaginary is the safe space.

In the bedroom, a safe place.

In the house, not a safe place.
